Yes please. Part of the problem is that $ doesn't make sense as a document link does it?

Not the way @ makes sense for a tag or # makes sense for a channel (due to long history back to IRC of using it that way.)

Is there some historical usage of $ to denote documents that I'm not aware of? It makes the link look like a $variable from code.
