Privacy Option to Hide User Group Status/Membership in Directory
complete

In terms of privacy, we'd like the option to be able to hide which groups users are a part of when hovering over a user or checking their profile in the user directory.
For some groups, users will not want to share publicly the groups they are a part of - especially when using the tool with corporate clients as well.
Please let us know if this is something that can be added to the roadmap. Thanks!

This can be done through the hidden groups feature! The groups that your members see depend on whether you set up your groups as Default/Hidden. Hidden groups are only visible to admins and moderators and you can create one by going to Settings > Manage Groups > Create New Group.
Here's a quick explainer article that should help:

Any updates on this?

Yes this! Almost like 'tagging' them for certain things but giving us the option whether to make the 'tag / group' visible to the user or not.

Have users and/or admin control which labels are public/private and thus if they show up on their member cards throughout Heartbeat (like the directory, dm’s, online sidebar etc)?

Users can be added to groups that they may want to keep private. The ability to hide groups from a public profile by user or administrator would be most useful.
