"Don't Forget!" is like telling people to forget.

Please change reminder emails to encourage them to do the desired behaviour rather than reenforcing the opposite.

Would also love it if users can choose to have an event get added (manually or automatically) to their calendar. I don't use the heavy setting. I want them to decide if they want it on their calendar.

Yes! and be able to customize the time reminders go out before an event. Right now it only allow for 3 hours before the event or 2 days prior.
