Client shouldn't be able to cancel paid term
Ryn Sloane
Currently, HB allows users to cancel their membership, however my programs are set up for specific periods (ie. 6 months) and I can't have members canceling without contacting me first. I can't use HB for my payments and monetization until this can be adjusted. :(

It looks like Nick was able to merge this post with another, but for the life of me I can't find the merged post. No matter what I search! I just wanted to see if there's an update on this issue at all.

Close the payment loophole
Elise Winters
I have a 2.5-month course and would like to allow participants spread payments over a longer period (4 months), because the members of my audience have limited budget, especially during the summer.
But, I want them to be committed to the course (and the full course price) after 30 days.
According to Murtaza's "courses" video, the installment plan is designed such that a participant can cancel at any point. This essentially makes their commitment meaningless ... it is a verbal commitment only.
My previous payment platform provided two options: "Allow member to cancel" and "Member is not able to cancel" (i.e. until the product is paid in full).
Having participants commit users to the full course is essential for me. Without this I will need to use an external payment processor. But I really would prefer to stay within the Heartbeat platform; adding a separate payment processor will be much harder to integrate.
Please close this loophole ... thank you!!

I just discovered this myself. I wrongly assumed that 'Installments' was the same as 'Payment Plans'. But Heartbeat installments are simply another subscription option. And members can cancel as they please.
My previous platform used Stripe directly to do payment plans: Stripe sent them as invoices, rather than a subscription. If their payment failed, their access was removed. But they weren't able to cancel whenever they wanted (like a subscription).
Like Elise, this is also essential for me. I do not want to have use an external payment provider, but right now it's looks like my only option.

I agree with this!! It's incredibly frustrating.
