Coupon allows free access, clients still have to put in their card details

I‘m repeatedly asked by clients who have a coupon that allows them to join a certain course for free, why they still have to put in their payment details. It seems like whenever you switch a product to paid, you cannot have a voucher that gives the product for free - clients still have to enter their payment details. The reason I’m not having 2 separate groups, one paid, one free is so that I I don’t always have to tag both of them. Fixing this would save a lot of time.

You can now change free trial settings to either require payment information or skip it entirely. To make this change to existing or future paid products, go to Settings > Monetization and select the three-dot menu for the paid product you want to edit. Then navigate to the Payment Setup tab and make your selection if you have a free trial on the product.

There is no way to get users to join up as frictionless as possible. In the free trial, why should they be required to provide card details?

This is a very critical issue. It makes free coupons unusable. I would never ever join a community that offers a free coupon or a trial but asks to enter my credit card details. Moreover, there is no option for users to delete these payment details from their account (this is super critical). They are very concerned about it. It makes Monetization module unusable. The only option is to completely delete their accounts from community. When you offer a free trial, the button text is "PURCHASE" after entering credit card details. No one is going to click it for sure. It should have a different text, like "Proceed" or "Next" etc.

Experiencing the same issue and I did a video and sent it to support about this.
