Courses: Add "Task" or Assignment completion without submission box
Marieke Cahill
I have multiple assignments in modules that do not require a submission, but need to be checked off. At the moment, participants have to type something in the submission field, which adds an extra step.
Please add a toggle button for requiring submission, or add a "task" check off option!

Is there any update on this thread? It is critical for us to have the ability to allow participants to move past the assignment without completed. (i.e., not required).

Yes please! I don't want my less tech savvy students to stop going through the lessons because the 'continue' button is grayed out.

yes! i am just setting up a course where members have to to sth, but i dont need proof/assignement for it. a simple "done"-checkbox would suffice.

Yes please! Was just coming here to say if we could please make the assignment optional so that they can still click 'continue' regardless.

Course Lesson "Continue" button disabled

I have a test course set up with multiple lessons. I noticed today that on one of the lessons, the continue button is disabled. Yesterday, I added a test assignment to this course that posts to a channel, so I'm not sure if that new functionality is somehow related.

As far as I can see, this happens when an assignment is added. Which I think is problematic. We should be able to choose whether assignments are required or not!

We talked about this one in the support meeting yesterday. It sounds like Heartbeat team is considering adding a toggle where we can choose to require the assignment or not. In my use case, I don't ever need assignments to be submitted to me (it's usually just action steps I'm suggesting for them or a suggestion to share to the discussion thread that they've completed, so we can celebrate with them).

Misty Dorman: I agree, we need to be able to choose whether submission is required or not. I think this will contribute to people getting stuck...

Yes, the button works, when the assignment is done.
