Hey everyone, quick update here — at this time, Dark Mode is not on the roadmap for Heartbeat.
Candidly, it's a pretty high-lift feature, here's why:
- requires us to re-build our design system with dark mode components
- we'd need to check against every existing page of Heartbeat to confirm we're meeting accessibility standards
- slows dev of every new feature because we have to validate 2 designs for it.
The benefits of Dark Mode are there, but given the dev & ongoing maintenance cost of the feature, it doesn't make sense to focus on Dark Mode at this time as compared to other features that make a massive impact on your business (better payments, landing pages, onboarding improvements, more customization, etc.)
Totally understand this isn't the news you're hoping for, but wanted to transparent about our focus internally as we continue to build Heartbeat alongside your businesses.
This isn't a 'no' forever, just a 'no' for right now :)

Murtaza Bambot We implemented it on our SaaS recently, within only 3 weeks. There are some really cool kits available that you can install and do it for you. There's no need for it to be perfect from the get go - it's about reducing the eye strain. It can then be finetuned over time. I was inspired by the request here!

Lots of comments here but YES, Dark Mode is a prerequisite on any website/app, especially one we engage with for long periods of time (the goal we all have for our community members). This should be bumped to the front of the line in the next update!
