I would like to have a "Home page" where all the posts of all categories are listed on a preview mode (+ a "read more" button). When a user connects to the community, this Home page is the default view, so that the user can see all the new posts.

The new Heartbeat mobile app has launched with an all new Community Feed, which brings together posts and content from every corner of your community into one easy-to-view stream.
This is only available on the mobile app for now, but we do have plans to add it to the web and desktop soon!

Nick Barba the Feed is AMAZING for mobile but equally, if not, more important on desktop. Do you know how soon this will be rolled out?
Nick Barba
Lindsay Trumpler While I don't have an exact ETA, we plan to work out any kinks in the feed by monitoring it's usage on mobile first, then very soon after we'll be adding it to the web and desktop. I've made a new canny request (and added your upvote) so we can keep you updated as we work on getting this on desktop and web :)

I primarily use desktop...will this be a quick add to desktop after mobile or are we talking months? In my own community I find it hard to see what people are engaging in as I use desktop to check it.

Please Add & Show a Newsfeed on Login

When you first log you automatically open into the first channel. Which you then have to to click off from and click into the channel you want to start viewing. This can be annoying and adds more friction.
We should make it as frictionless as possible for members to jump in and start engaging. So by having the Heartbeat login and automatically show a newsfeed would be great. This would allow people to scroll and see the most recent posts and jump right into conversations and see whats new.
Facebook does, Instagram does this, TickTok does this. All major platforms have a news feed. Having people land directly into a channel is is a much harder landing than is needed. Even inside The Hearth every time we login we see the intros channel. It would be more beneficial to see a newsfeed.
You can just take the "activity center" on the right t side of the screen and expand that out and have that bee the first thing people land on.

I like this, and would for sure want it to be optional. Easy to turn on and off as needed.

Murtaza Bambot Is this feature planned in the near future?
Murtaza Bambot
Ulrike Braun Yeah this is coming to mobile within the next 1-2 mos (late June 2024), and then will be ported to desktop afterwards. As of now, planning for it to be an optional feature — so it can be turned on/off as needed. Design mocks for this are largely ready, now need to write code for it.

Murtaza Bambot Dude, awesome. I have been wanting a Home page / dashboard since the beginning. A jumping off place so people can get caught up and dive into what they're looking for easily. Can we see mockups?
Albert Kinng
Murtaza Bambot Why prioritize mobile when a majority of users dislike the app and find it confusing? Most users prefer using the desktop version, especially because the app icon can be misleading and give the impression of being a dating app, which scares them.
Murtaza Bambot
Alex E Yeah, we showcased this during the townhall last week. I'll aim to post a loom video of the mock-ups in the Hearth today/tomorrow.

>>Why prioritize mobile when a majority of users dislike the app and find it confusing?
Because over 80% of logins happen on mobile, ~30% of active users have never logged in on desktop/web, and we're baking this into a much larger re-design of the mobile app to improve navigation.
>> the app icon can be misleading and give the impression of being a dating app, which scares them
Aiming to give some options for the app icon with this change. Not 100% confirmed (need to check on some technical pieces of this) but it's a high priority that we're aiming to knock out in this larger mobile update.

Murtaza Bambot That's fantastic news! If you can make that app user-friendly, it will be a dream come true!

Does anyone know if this is being prioritized?
Charlotte Salvanes
yes i totally agree with this.. i feel the activity on the right bar isnt big enough to be attractive ( no images, no videos etc) it's very boring to look at. a newsfeed is really important and i miss it !
