Individual Gamification
Miriam Gitlin
I would like to see non-competitive forms of gamification. In other words, gamification that encourages an individual to keep participating and progressing, but not as compared to others. Points that can be traded in for rewards, stars or other visual ability to see your progress, being able to "level up" based on participation or course completion, bingo boards, etc.

Maintencen of Certification (MOC)

- When we initially establish a membership or a group
- A checkbox or other selectable option for "Maintenance of Certification" should be available.
- If this option is selected, the user will be presented with a dashboard (see attachment) that details the number of required hours to keep the certification current.
- The user will manually upload any proof of activity or proof of certification (artifact), whichever is applicable.
- The upload of the artifact with the hours reward on it will be approved by the admin.
This is not nearly as difficult as it sounds.
Please let me know if any of you need further explanation, and I will be happy to assist.
This feature would undoubtedly attract the interest of professional organizations that are looking for membership management software and would be interested in purchasing your product.
You could, in point of fact, include this as a component of the gamification that you all are currently considering whether or not to include in your software.
In essence, it is a form of gamification.

I was just looking at Mighty Networks gamification features today and I really liked that they had a streak for logging into the community and that people would get a certain number of points per login.
The points could then be used to recognize other members for positive behaviour, like posting something inspiring or being welcoming or supporting.
Based on the community values, you could customize those and pick up to 5 that members can reward other members with. And they show up on their profile.
As someone that usually hates gamifications and leaderboard and such, this non-competitive more uplifting version was really interesting.
I can also see this work for getting access to certain part of the community based on rewards received or based on points. Though if they can 'purchase' with points, they will probably not 'spend' them on other members as much, so maybe those two would need to be separate.

Just watched "a YouTuber" decide to go with Circle (over Skool) because of how Circle handles Gamification. Then I searched the HB Roadmap and came across this Feature Request. 639 Votes - WOW! Any news about Gamification being added to HB yet?

We’ve made our own set of achievement groups and benefits - but still feels hacky. Glad to share how we approached it if helpful for user research activities. This approach vastly improved engagement.

Just hopping on to say this would be a game changer for member engagement, I'm an annual member and would really love to see this feature asap..
REASONING.
If you run a free community you can reward members based on activity to unlock premium sections..
You can also give points as members complete courses or answer questions in the community..

Dropping back in here to once again request that we get proper gamification. Skool does this so well, and it works to support engagement. This has over 600 upvotes, surely it should be a priority at this point? Thanks, team!

Nathan Maingard 100% agree. At least an update to state this request is heard loud and clear and looking into it.

Nathan Maingard couldn't agree more! This is where Skool does well. Non-competitive gamification is a great way to engage community leadership amongst members.

Nathan Maingard this would be such a great way to engage members !! Please Hb !

Hey I appreciate the current focus on non-competitive forms of gamification, as it encourages personal progress without direct comparison to others. I believe that a system similar to the one I’ve seen in other software could be a valuable addition to your platform.
This system allows community managers to configure point distributions based on specific actions like creating posts, receiving replies, reactions, or providing solutions. Members earn points for participating, which encourages continued engagement.
Additionally, the ability to turn rankings on or off provides flexibility, allowing for a competitive or non-competitive environment based on community preferences. Implementing points that can be redeemed for rewards or visual progress (e.g., stars or levels) could also enhance user motivation and participation.
I think incorporating something like this would greatly improve the user experience by offering flexible gamification options that still focus on individual growth and progress.
Rankings System: There’s an option to activate or deactivate a ranking system that highlights members who engage the most within the community.
Points Configuration: Points are awarded for various actions such as:
• Creating a post
• Receiving a response to their post or comment
• Receiving a reaction to their post or comment
• Replying to someone else’s post
• Providing a solution to someone else’s question
Customizable Points: Admins can adjust how many points members get for each action.

Heartbeat is actually tracking quite a few things already, as seen in de member directory filters as per screenshot, and in the automation options.
What would be great is for admins to have a dashboard in which all these metrics can be weighed for point scoring. This way community admins can tweak the “rewards” algorithm to their liking and needs, and be tailored to different goals at different times in their community. This could also offer ways to counteract people getting a feel for the algorithm and “gaming” it with possible detrimental effects for your community.

Despite overwhelming upvotes, Heartbeat has yet to prioritize this much-needed gamification? Feel so sad.

Please look at Skool for references

Tri Ryuzaki Yes. Skool is a terrific model. I love their feed and UI. Very intuitive and easy to navigate. Feel like Heartbeat wastes a lot of space in the UI.

Mat Casner 💯 HB looks very clunky & cumbersome
