Limit Directory View By Group
complete
Marissa Loewen
It would be great if we can limit the directory view by groups so my free group members or my specific course group members only see their cohort and not ALL of my members.
Also can we choose which labels are showing in the directory? Right now all group labels show automatically. I would like to assign group names as public or private

With isolated groups, you are able to limit search, direct messages, the user directory, online status, presence (whether someone is viewing a post, doc, etc.) and @ mentions to only members that are part of the group. This means that members that are not part of the group will not be able to see or interact with any members that are! Nick Barba: I'm not clear that there is the opportunity to simply put in the name of a group and have only those members show up. As of now, when I search a group name in the directory, it's showing anyone who used that name in a post, not everyone who's actually in the group. Is there a way to show a directory for each group?

Kim Marie: It looks like you're looking for the following feature request, which requests the ability to search a group in the user directory: https://heartbeat.canny.io/feature-requests/p/search-users-by-group

I have noticed that the "Create Voice Room" feature does not prevent isolated members from joining it. This is a problem for multi-group communities, as you want to prevent users of one group from talking to the users of another group. The isolation only works for channels that include the Voice channel but not for ad-hoc voice rooms that are created by members. Could you please review the code to make sure that only users of the same isolated group can see the ongoing ad-hoc call and be able to join it?

Please work on this next - it is extremely important for community privacy, especially if aiming to use Heartbeat in a B2B environment. Hoping this control can be added soon - thanks!

Oh my God, absolutely! This is essential! Direct messaging per group is the ideal approach, as it would allow me to keep only students in the class group and exclusively have clients in the support group. I implore you!

Just want to clarify Marissa Loewen, you want to:
1 - limit so each group can see it's own members
2 - have a way to designate groups as public of privately visible in the directory
Mayhul's solution below works for if you just don't want free members to have access to the directory but you do want paid members to.

Misty Dorman - Heartbeat Team: thank you. This is so critical to privacy, and just for having a more streamlined experience for each cohort, for those of us running individual cohort-based programs. This is the main reason I signed up for Heartbeat, to be able to keep different groups separate in my programs. :-)

Not clear these limiting access permissions are working for me so far - is there a tutorial on this? or a way to test what a member with certain permissions will see? (a non-admin view)
