Link Auto-Cal Event Invites to Community Event Page, NOT Zoom
complete

Since auto invites currently include the direct Zoom link, once the invite is on a member's calendar they can access a premium event regardless of whether they paid.
Add the option to make the auto-invites include the hyperlink back to the community event page, rather than the Zoom link.
This would require the recipient to log in to the community in order to join the meeting through the button on the event page.
Logging in applies the current membership status & group access rule, accounting for all upgrade or downgrade scenarios. It also increases on-platform engagement (I have some members who rarely log in but come to every Zoom meeting through calendar links).
I can see this being implemented as a simple toggle button to switch between the two options on the event setup page.

🔒 Protected Event Links are here!
Now, Heartbeat masks all your event links with a pre-generated link to authenticate users.
This ensures that members who may have left your community or canceled their subscription cannot access your events — even if they still have the calendar invites!
Here's how it works:
- Each of your event links (Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, etc.) will be replaced with a link that looks like "heartbeat.chat/eventRedirect/{unique_token}"
- When a user clicks on the link, Heartbeat checks to make sure they have access to the event
- If they do, we redirect them to Zoom/Googe Meet/Teams or wherever you're hosting your event
- If they don't we tell them that they need to be a part of your community (or paid membership) to get access & block them from joining the event.
And an added benefit: even if you change the Zoom link at the last minute, your members will land in the right place using the redirect :)

Looks like the new protected links feature addresses this issue!

Nick Barba — Can you confirm this has been addressed buy the new feature release?

Mike Phillips: Can confirm! Apologies for the delayed update here :)

Yes please! I haven't done any recurring events because I don't want paid members to cancel & still have access to our meetings. This would solve that problem.

I want the simplicity of setting recurring events for the year (ex: every Tuesday for all of 2024) that include auto-cal invites for paid members, but I don't want lapsed free trial members or churned premium members to keep accessing paid events for the entire year. This loophole subverts the community paywall for event-based communities.
