Removing access for a future paid event after they cancel their paid membership.

I choose Heartbeat to build my free community and streamline the process of my members who pay to be a part of my membership. If a paid member ends their membership, they should not be able to access the events with the zoom info they RSVPed to before they canceled. I'm really hoping we can get this feature sorted as it really stagnates my growth when I have to be worried about removing people from paid events when they are not longer in my paid membership.

Now, Heartbeat masks all your event links with a pre-generated link to authenticate users.
This ensures that members who may have left your community or canceled their subscription cannot access your events — even if they still have the calendar invites!
Here's how it works:
- Each of your event links (Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, etc.) will be replaced with a link that looks like "heartbeat.chat/eventRedirect/{unique_token}"
- When a user clicks on the link, Heartbeat checks to make sure they have access to the event
- If they do, we redirect them to Zoom/Google Meet/Teams or wherever you're hosting your event
- If they don't we tell them that they need to be a part of your community (or paid membership) to get access & block them from joining the event.
And an added benefit: even if you change the Zoom link at the last minute, your members will land in the right place using the redirect :)

Oooh, currently on a trial considering a switch from another platform but this is concerning

I requested something similar, Ferryn X. If there was an option to have the email invites or auto-calendar events link back to the community event page rather than directly to zoom, then their lapsed membership woudl gatekeep access to the event.

Mike Phillips: That's a great idea! I was trying to think of a work around for this. Hopefully we get something helps us not need to be involved in making sure the right people have access is SO important.

Mike Phillips: Ferryn X How are you handling this now?
I was ready to switch to HB, but this is holding me back because I have a monthly membership that people go in and out of - I can't imagine having to monitor who comes into the zoom.
I even tried doing NO emails or putting the link in the description of the event instead of location, but once the user RSVPs it sends them a calendar invite and the event description is in that calendar invite.
I'm thinking about putting it on a doc and using the direct link to that doc as the meeting location. If someone really wanted to go through the trouble of copying and saving the link they could, but I guess they could do that on my current system too.

Jessica Totillo Coster: Honestly I don't have an answer to this yet and have unfortunately been dealing with some other issues with getting my cleints moved over from another platform that has yet to be sorted.
So it's not top priority right now. But I think a short term work around would be to set up the events the week of.
They could still copy and past the link I suppose, but I think you could also have a workaround for this with locking the event with a passcode that's different each week and only available through the events tab.
Hope this info is helpful.

Ferryn X: Thanks for your reply!

Jessica Totillo Coster: You can always change the promotion schedule to RSVP rather than an auto-invite, but I've noticed an attendance drop-off when I do that. THankfully, I haven't had members abusing it lately. I'm hoping the option to have the calendar invite link back to the in-community event page will soon become a reality.
